Do hiccups control you, or do you control hiccups? Does the artist control the artwork, or perhaps does the artwork control the artist?

HICCUP—a festival of body and sound co-presented by Tai Kwun Contemporary, Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong (Sound Forms) and Per.Platform—will be bringing together a range of sonic art, live performances, and interactive installations which circle around voluntary and involuntary actions. In turn, we will get to explore what is conscious, not-quite-conscious, and non-conscious.

More programme details will be announced on a later date.

Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong

Founded in 2007, Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong (CMHK) is devoted to the promotion, presentation, and advocacy of cross-disciplinary practices in sound. CMHK presents a wide range of programs that support the new technological, artistic and cross-disciplinary demands that are placed upon composers, musicians, and sound artists. CMHK strives to build a community and support structure for artists from various disciplines, foster dialogues and collaborations, and provide a platform for innovative and cross-media experimentations.

Per.Platform

Per.Platform is a Hong Kong-based Live Art Platform founded in 2021. We bring together practitioners from different disciplines to create unique live art experiences responding to a particular space in time. Together with the audience, we explore the common ground of expression through human bodies and authentic actions. Through being and becoming, we investigate the notion of presence, ephemerality and the meaning of liveness in this mediatised age.
